There is a new national sport, Obesity. Lot’s of people competing to get the gold medal in it.
1 in every 3 adults are obese, every 3rd reader of this article is obese. This are 34.9% of all adults, that’s 72 million people suffering. From 1960 the obesity among adults more than doubled. In 1960 there was no internet, no smartphones. And here we are, 50 years later, with this crazy statistics. What happened? The craziest of all, is that 1 in every 5 children is considered obese this days.
Obesity is a nothing more than a sure ticket, a roulette to death or problems that will haunt you until the end of your days. Obesity will help you get type 2 diabetes, a heart disease or a high blood pressure. Having type 2 diabetes for example, means you will always depend on insulin. Having a heart disease means nothing more than an earlier death, that’s the gold medal of “obesity olympics”.
Funny, but it is the same situation as the people living near volcanoes, when they wake up in the morning and they find lava in their living room – wondering how they got into this situation. Same goes with obesity – stop putting junk food into your mouth and then complaining about health problems. Why you don’t put bad fuel into your car? What would happen to it? It’s engine will just go nuts. Why we don’t apply same principles when we eat? I think most of us just want to achieve the biggest weight possible in this new era sport.
The Obesity Olympics
If you don’t know yet what is junk food, just google it. In this era of information, it’s a shame still not knowing about it and practice junk eating sport.
We talk so much about gadgets, about apps, about music – but so little about junk eating, and really fighting against it. If Maslou would still be alive, he would have to redo his pyramid.
Eat less, but higher quality, chew more and feel better like in the proverb:
Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.
No wonder in Sweden obesity is only 12.9%.
Eat organic, they are so much tastier, fresher and more aromatic. You just don’t know what you are missing. The numbers are increasing each day more and more in favor of junk food, and the simple rule of supply and demand is working, no one is to be blame but us. We are eating more junk, businesses will produce more of it. If we would stop eating junk food, we would send clear messages to all junk producers, that we want something else, their sales would go down and they would start growing good, organic foods. If you know someone eating junk food, becoming obese, don’t just stand there – talk to them, educate your friends, parents and children. We should start the change with people around us. Eating less of it will raise the clear demand for better produce, help local organic producers more. Let’s put a buck into the pockets of those who care about our health, and stop “obesity national sport madness”
